KidsRights, founded in 2003, is an international non-governmental organization that advocates for the well-being and rights of vulnerable children around the world. KidsRights works to promote children’s rights and stimulate child participation through 3 pillars: advocacy, research and action.
Together with children, KidsRights draws worldwide attention to the power of children as changemakers and to the Rights of the Child. In addition, KidsRights discovers young changemakers all over the world: children who take action themselves to improve their position. KidsRights offers children an international platform to share their message. They receive support to strengthen and expand their local actions. KidsRights also conducts research to give them and others insight into the status of children’s rights worldwide.
On 19 November, the 21st presentation of the International Children’s Peace Prize took place in Stockholm. The winner was 15-year-old Bana Alabed from Aleppo. From the jury report: ‘Bana represents the essence of what the International Children’s Peace Prize stands for: courage, resilience and an unwavering commitment to justice. Despite unimaginable hardships, Bana has turned her story into a powerful platform for advocacy, fighting for the millions of children silenced by conflict. Her commitment to education, peace, and children’s rights reminds us that even the youngest voices can bring about systemic change. Bana provides the moral leadership the world craves.”
On the occasion of the presentation of the International Children’s Peace Prize on 19 November and the visit of winner Bana Alabed to the Netherlands on 22 November, the Constantinian Order made a donation of 500 euros to KidsRights.
